CONVATEC Aquacel Hydrofiber dressing is a soft, nonwoven dressing that features Hydrofiber technology and a unique gelling technology exclusive to Convatec. It is a sterile, white, fibrous dressing derived from 100% pure sodium carboxymethylcellulose (nacmc). Aquacel Hydrofiber dressing combines the look, feel, and handling properties of gauze and leading alginates, but retains more fluid than alginates and almost three times as more fluid than gauze when used under compression. Aquacel dressing is indicated for the management of pressure ulcers, abrasions, lacerations, incisions, donor sites, second degree burns, and on infected wounds; for use in managing surgical or traumatic wounds that have been left to heal by secondary intention. It can be used on wounds prone to bleeding and to facilitate the control of minor bleeding. In addition, aquacel Hydrofiber dressing in its gelled state does not damage tender, granulating, wound tissue or healthy tissue surrounding exudating wounds during dressing changes. It absorbs wound fluid and creates a soft gel, which maintains a moist wound environment that aids autolytic debridement and supports the healing process in a protocol of care. This dressing should be used with a a cover dressing that adheres to the skin. Recommended change daily for heavy exudating wounds.
